As a fan of the series and as a video editor/director I have tried to upgrade the original Space: 1999 concept so that it would fit better with our contemporary television viewing. This inspired me to customize some episodes, reconfiguring the timeline of some events going as far as modifying its premise by creating a void in space after the original nuclear explosion which visually explains how the moon was propulsed so far out into the deepest regions of space. Or having a surprise return of deadly enemies. All this so that Space:1999 may become the saga it was meant to be.

As you no doubt have noticed, the main title has been pushed forward to 2099. In doing so, I had to adapt every moment when dates where shown or mentioned. This was one of the most challenging aspects of this new concept. Also, keeping in mind that my goal is to bring this series into this new television era, I have reframed the entire series from 4:3 format into the more current and modern 16:9 format. This results in the loss of a modest bit of picture in the process, but adjusting each scene so it feels right. You will also discover the new chronological order of the episodes now divided into twelve episodes per season like many new television series these days. Many of the episodes are also led by a "PREVIOUSLY" sequence which helps to connect the episodes together. And of course, you can expect various new effects and concept integrated all along. But let's be realistic about this... regardless of the technologies at our disposal today, I couldn't change the hairstyles, the pants and the platform shoes. This was all reflective of the fashion of the day in 1973/74. And as we all know while some things fall out of fashion they often come back in style at some future date.

So who knows what the fashion will be in 2099?

Thus, I am inviting you to take a tour of the episode guide. Remember, it's not there to replace or eliminate the original one, but just to offer a new vision into all its possibilities.
