1.4 Matter of Life and Death
When a ship is sent to investigate the planet Terra Nova, it inexplicably returns with Lee Russell, the long-lost husband of Dr. Helena Russell, who was believed lost on a space mission several years earlier. Despite warnings from Lee Russell not to go to Terra Nova the Alphans send down a landing party who soon discover that the tropical paradise they see is inhospitable to human life and will bring disaster to them all if they stay.
Editor’s Note:
As the first planet encountered by the Alphans in both the original show’s production and this new chronology, Terra Nova presents a few problems. Some dialogue in the show is confusing leading us to believe that “many things have happened to us since we left earth” from a statement by John to Helena. This has been corrected to “things”. Also, it will be the first appearance of the flying cam, a sophisticated camera that follows the team during this planetary exploration. The main reason for creating this device was to explain some point of view seen on the Main Mission screen, that couldn’t have come from their portable communication device. For the character development, we learn about Helena’s past which thus opens the door for a future discreet relationship with John Koenig |
